At Pakefield Primary School we believe that children are uniquely individual. They have the right to flourish in a nurturing environment within the school community. We aim to do this by inspiring curiosity and thinking through meaningful experiences.
In Year 1 we build on the progress our children make in the Early Years Foundation stage by enabling them to build and develop the knowledge and understanding they need to become independent learners. We provide them with a range of skills that allow them to engage with the National curriculum in a child centred way.
Children’s creative and critical thinking is developed through an enquiry based learning approach which allows children to practice skills which include, research, questioning and recording. They are encouraged to follow their own lines of enquiry within a broader theme.
